Weekly Spotlight: Website Builder Needed!

Do you have experience setting up websites or blogs? An area pre-school needs someone who can help them set up a simple site to share information; such as their schedule, photos and contact information. Although there are no specific job requirements, an example of previously designed site would be appreciated.

Coveyou Scenic Farm Market Hayrides and U-Pick Apples/Pumpkins

Get Your Fall On At Coveyou Scenic Farm Market, Site of Northern Michigan’s Most Scenic Hayride
The cool, crisp days of fall have arrived in Northern Michigan, and up-north nature is ready for its most spectacular show of the year. Full, glorious color is popping from every direction, and the best way to enjoy it is the old-fashioned way: by hayride!

Coveyou Scenic Farm Market is now offering hourly hayrides from 12-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through the end of October. Large group scheduling is also available by reservation.

These are not your average hayrides! From the farm’s location overlooking Walloon Lake, the open-air ride combs the rolling hills, offering views of one of the world’s most beautiful lakes and its treasured shoreline in full color. The vintage farm trailer and tractor runs through Coveyou orchards, into wooded territory and onto the pumpkin patch, where photos of pumpkin picking set against Walloon can’t be beat.

Speaking of photos, capture your annual shot of the kids in front of the Family Tree and Great Pumpkin Ruler.

That’s not all! For the first time in the Centennial Farm’s history, the public is invited to pick their own honeycrisp apples in the hilltop orchard. And, as always, Coveyou Scenic Farm remains the largest grower of garden mums in Northern Michigan, which look beautiful alongside Coveyou corn stalks, straw bales and gourds.

Your visit to Coveyou Secenic Farm won’t be complete without cider, donuts and other fall treats.

Hayrides are $6 per person, $10 with the pumpkin of your choice in the field. Kids 3 and under are $5 with a pumpkin, free without.

Visit CoveyouScenicFarm.com or call 231-347-0011 for more information.

HELP US HONOR YOUR HEROES!

The 17th Annual Harbor Heroes Community Awards Dinner is just a short time away and once again, the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce requests your assistance in recognizing the outstanding citizens, businesses and organizations who dedicate their energies to making our community a very special place to live and work.

We also look forward to having you join us for this year’s event on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Birchwood Farms Golf and Country Club. Tickets are on sale now and are $40 per person or $280 for a table of 8. Space is limited. To reserve your tickets just call the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce at 231-526-7999.

The Harbor Heroes Community Awards Dinner is the Chamber’s way of saying “Thank You!” to those community members who see a need and take it upon themselves to find a solution to make things happen that benefit our entire community.

The ballot and a list of the awards to be presented is available on-line at www.harborspringschamber.com

With the exception of the Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award, nominees need not have Chamber of Commerce affiliations. We simply ask that you include a brief statement of why you think your nominee deserves recognition and return it to our office no later than Friday, October 14, 2011. For your convenience, nominations may be delivered in person, or by mail, phone, fax or email to:

ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD
There will be an additional award presented again at this year’s Harbor Heroes Dinner; the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Coordinated by the Entrepreneur Club of Emmet County and sponsored by the Bank of Northern Michigan, this award will honor an entrepreneur who is helping to enhance the local economy through business growth. Businesses who think they qualify are encouraged to nominate themselves, or if you know of an entrepreneur you would like to honor, you may nominate that business. Those businesses who receive nominations will then be asked to complete an application form. A panel of judges will then evaluate those applications to determine a winner. Nominations are due on October 14th and should be returned to the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, 368 East Main Street, Harbor Springs, or Scott@harborspringschamber.com. Nomination forms are available on the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Website on the Harbor Heroes Page

On behalf of the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, we thank you for taking the time to direct us to those whose efforts might otherwise go unnoticed.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event. If you would like to have your business associated with this outstanding annual event, call or e-mail Scott Herceg at the Chamber Office. Sponsorships are available for most components of the event and each of the Awards.

We hope to see you there, and remember: “Its Always a Great Day in the Harbor Springs Area!!”
